Side Molding tape recommendations
I noticed today the side moldings on my 2010 RX450h were coming loose. Does anyone recommend a replacement tape for the 1-1/8" wide molding? Apparently the age has got to them because they are slightly lose on both sides. I put them on a little over two years ago.
I'll be taking them completely off and cleaning them up using probably a good 1-1/8" 3M tape. (But there is sooooo many on the market which one to choose?)
Thanks,
lar

I always used Scotts Outdoor Mounting Tape by 3M which can be found from Home Depot & any hardware stores, I used it to mount my spoilers & sideskirt on my Acura TL, just make sure you clean & remove the wax residue on the body of your car before you mount the side molding, also be sure to clean the side where you're going to stick the tape in the moldings. I had owned the car for 6 years with no problems.

What do you guys recommend for removing wax nowadays? I used to use Freon TF but its all gone now and outlawed by environmentalists. I was thinking GooGone but dont want to damage the paint.

2011....I used dawn dishwashing detergent to remove wax. I also used googone to remove the side molding tape from the vehicle. Used it just long enough to get the old stuff off and then used dawn to clean it down.
Thanks guys,

I would use 70% Isopropyl Alcohol straight from the bottle with a cloth than dry.

BTW, I would definitely use a high temperature adhesive tape, like the double sided adhesive most garage door guys use to stick the double bubble foam Reflectix insulation onto garage doors (that is a great garage door upgrade, BTW). The standard adhesives are only good up to about 120F, and you will need higher than that for automotive use unless you live north of Fairbanks.
