Default Puddle Lamp Operation

Can anyone please tell me exactly how these things are supposed to work. Specifically, do the doors need to be locked for them to come on? They have worked before with no problem, but last night they did not come on. The only difference was that the doors were not locked at the time. I have gone over the manual thoroughly and have done a search on our forum but I am unable to find the answer I seek. As always, thanks in advance for the help.

Yes, the doors have to be locked for them to activate. They illuminate by unlocking the doors with the FOB or, as you approach the RX they will illuminate. I believe it is within 6 ft.

My observation is the doors have to be locked for the puddle lamps work. When I walk up to the RX with the fob and doors locked, I see them come on. When I walk away and come back, they come on again. I've gone back and forth and they come on each time. But once the door is unlocked by grabbing the door handle, they won't work except for the initial unlock.

Sometimes Senior moments seem to take over. All I had to do was run a test in my dark garage. With the doors unlocked they do not come on. With the doors locks the do come on. So....the doors must be locked for them to work. I feel rather silly. Thanks for the help Anita.

No problem with Senior Moments here, you're my age. I consider it "experience", my wife says it's a full buffer.
