1000 mile courtesy check in for new vehicle.
Okay guys, when I bought our new 2010 lexus rx, the dealer told us to come in for a 1000 mile courtesy check up on the vehicle. I schedule it a week ago and my wife takes it in on a Saturday and calls me stating the service guy said there is nothing to check and that there is nothing to be done till the first oil change at 7-8k miles !! ?? what the hell, why did the schedule it and tell is to come in then!! should I complain or is there really nothing they do and nothing to go over and a waste of time to complain?

the past 2 lexus i got, they did ask me to go in at around 1000 or 1500 miles i forgot. really they didn't have anything to do, but they checked on the oil, and other stuff to make sure there is no leak or anything.
so technically, no "service" is needed. but my dealerships they do it for courtesy as a quick checkup

Get all over them they were the ones to call you for this and its in the books and on the Lexus page for this service so they still should have check out the car for the few things they look at. Your time is money and they got you on the time to set up the check and the time your wife took to dive to the sealership. So yes I would call and give them hell over this worst case the next time you bring the car in for anything they make sure that it is right the first time

Lexus has changed it. Before buying my car... several dealerships they told me that there was a 1K service. However at the dealership where I bought my car they mentioned that Lexus no longer offers it. Instead it is during the 5K and 10K service

Its is in the 2011 manual its on the Lexus Webb page I thank is more a case that Lexus does not pay the dealership for this check so they no not want to check them but the dealership got paid for this on the front end with the dealer hold back and the profit that they did make off the deal and if you used your old car in the deal the money that they made off of that deal also also we all know that they have no more than $100 in all of the paper work so what ever they charge for on the Retail Delivery Fee was more money on this deal to them. CALL them on this and make them put it up on a rack and look for leaks check they other things and more on with life.

A technician came to my house (maybe about a 40 mile drive) and performed a check of my 450h in my garage at 1000 miles. He simply checked all of the fluids and tires and asked if I wanted him to program anything. He might have been here for 15-20 minutes at the most.
