Default DIY HID Low Beams

This DIY is for those with OEM HIDs, D4S base. The install is same as most D4S HID bulb installs, same as IS250. Bored and so here you go!

I got the 5000k D4S bulbs from V-Leds, best/most reputable place I could find that had the 5000k bulbs.

Remove all the engine panels, there should be 3 pieces. To pop the clips out, just press the round center button and then pull it out either with your nails or a flathead screwdriver, being careful not to drop any into the engine bay.

Starting from the Passenger side, looking down you'll see this:

Driver side:

Right next to the windshield fluid tube, you'll find the HID bulb:

Here it is on the Driver side:

Rotate the plastic cover counterclockwise to remove it.

Rotate the metal connector counterclockwise to remove it.

Now you will see the bulb clipped in:

Unclip it by pushing in from the ends:

Next carefully pull it out, taking care not to touch the bulb against the housing or anything else under the hood.
This is the OEM Phillips 4300k bulb:

Next is reverse everything, put the bulb back in, with the largest slot pointing upwards. The thin wire part of the HID bulb is going to be pointing down. Clip the bulb back in, and then put the connector back on. Test the bulbs by firing them up to check the connection is good, and then put the plastic cover back on, and put the rest of the covers back on the engine bay. Lastly, sit back and enjoy your work.

Nope, doesn't affect cutoff or where the beam is focused. Still is pointed in the same place.

Nice by the numbers install sequence. Thanks

2 questions, 1st what was the electrical box from Hawaii under the hood? It just seemed odd. 2nd is do you drive off the road? It seemed dirtier under the hood than most or maybe it's just the flash picking it up.

Anyway, good job and thanks again.

Jim, pull the engine covers and you'l see how dirty it gets under there. Even the covers can get pretty filthy. I wiped mine down last week including the hood. It was bad.

The one shot with the most info is blurry but I goggled it and it appears the car must have been in Hawaii at one point. http://www.servco.com/contact.php is a large Hawaiian Toyota Lexus chain. Must have had something from them installed in it.

You can see in the 4th pic of the original post that it's the battery.

The front right hand corner says "DISTR BY SERVCO PACIFIC INC..."

Thanks, I guess I need more meaningful things to do in my life than trying to figure out inconsequential stuff. Don't retire, it'll turn you into this . I guess the car came from Hawaii and needed a new battery there. I didn't recognize it at 1st, my 12v battery is in the rear pan near the spare (hybrid model).

You guys are ridiculous. hahha
RX was manufactured in Canada and we bought it new with 9 miles on the odometer. Why would they ship it out to Hawaii to have a battery installed? haha
Part was just from Hawaii.
