9.1 map updated
#20
Called Lexus USA last week and got approval for the 9.1 update. Getting it updated today. My car has 11800 miles on it atm.
I took delivery on my RX 350 on September 17, 2009. I explained to the guy at Lexus that it wasn't fair that when I took delivery on my car there was already an updated firmware and map data available.
The guy on the phone just asked me a few questions, like have I experienced any problems with the NAV unit, who my local dealer was etc. Quick and simple. Granted I was on hold for 1 hour and 22 minutes before speaking to someone...
My dealer tried to give me the run around saying that they normally update the firmware/map data at the customers request for free if its within 6 months or 5k miles from the date of purchase. My service adviser told me to call Lexus and complain until they give in. Most likely so that Lexus USA pays for it, and not the dealer.

the only difference between 9.1 and 8.1 was that 9.1 included the new enform capability if you subscribe to it. not much else is changed, but its always nice to get the newest version. Enform came out in August, so if you car was produced after august, you are good to go

Maps are my other gripe with Lexus. They are not up-to-date. Even after paying $350 for an update last year, I didn't get much. But, my main gripe is that as soon as you zoom out you lose all the place names. Even when you do get place names, they are random places that no one's ever heard of. Again, hard to understand why this top class automaker can't get maps and ASL right. Both are a real disappointment for me.
