RX330 Owners: Any tapping noises from under the floor at high speeds?
Ever since we first picked up our new RX330, we have noticed a "tapping" noise from under the floor, on the driver's side of the car, when traveling at 75mph or greater. In our car, this noise is easily noticeable if the stereo (or entertainment system) is off. The tapping becomes more pronounced if we increase speed above 80mph.
Has anybody else experienced this problem? If so, any solutions??
I think it is due to the extended unfastened corner of the plastic shield underneath the floor, near the "B" pillar on the driver side. I'm guessing strong wind turbulence causes this corner to occasionally tap against the floor. I hope the Lexus dealer can properly address this issue tomorrow when I take it in for an oil change service.

Yes --- I have had the identical problem at even lower speeds (55 to 70 mph). I agree that it is wind getting under the plastic shield, as you mentioned. I wedged a piece of styrofoam at the front of the shield and the tapping disappeared. I have not been back for service but plan to metion it at 10,000 mile service. I have had only one other problem in first 7,000+ miles. The rear spoiler rubbed against the body when opening the rear hatch. The dealer replaced the spoiler at 5000 mile service and problem disappeared.

At my 5000 mile service, the service technician performed a similar fix to the one you described. He glued a couple small strips of foam along the edge of the plastic shield. We haven't heard any tapping noises since then!
