A leaking rack and pinion (typically on the passenger side) is a common problem on RXs and Highlanders. You can get a lifetime warranty replacement from $150 - $300 and installation by a quality shop should run another $300-500 if you cannot do it yourself. No reason to take it to Lexus and get gouged! There are several threads on this problem in this forum, do a search!

You probably have the extremely common leaking steering rack. Check your power steering fluid level in the reservoir (it's hidden under a black plastic cover in the engine compartment). If it's low then you likely have a leaking steering rack. Do some searches on here for "steering rack" to see what others have done to remedy theirs. If it has been leaking for three years you may need to top it off soon!
