Replacing side Mirrors
The paint on the bracket that holds the side mirrors is peeling on my 2005 rx330 and needs to be replaced .... I was quoted $1200 from a authoirized Lexus bodyshop as they dont want to repaint...
So I have looked at aftermarket mirrors online and the dimming feature seems to be available only on the driver side Mirror...I asked my wife and she doesnt really want them to dim , so it seems silly to worry about it ...
My question is can I replace dimming mirrors with non dimming ones ?
Will the other features still work ?
Will the wiring harness plugs still fit ?
thanks

Would the color of your car be Bamboo Pearl? There is a known problem with that color peeling on the mirrors and door handles. Many previous discussions regarding that.

Go to another body shop. Don't get new mirrors unless you have a pile of cash and want to get rid of it... 1200.00 to paint two mirror covers is the down right goofy. Also check the strip of junk plastic that is above your rear plate it is probably delaminating too....

Ebay...If the rest of your mirror is fine, just find a broken one on ebay that has a bracket in decent shape. You can take the bracket from the Ebay mirror and use your existing housing and glass since nothing is wrong with them.
Here are links to three on ebay. 2 passenger side and 1 driver side. It would be cheaper than repainting and you wouldn't have to downgrade to non-OEM parts.

i just recently bought a 330 and I notice the passenger mirror being more of a brown color then the driver side mirror glass. does that mean the heat filament has failed?
anyone know where I can find a glass for it and how difficult it is to swap it out?
every time I look over with tinted windows its hard to see.
thx
