transfer case leak?
I know this is an old thread, but want to say really appreciate the detailed write up.
I have a 2005 RX330 AWD, now at 223k miles and had an oil change, tires rotated, brakes checked, etc. Last winter when I had an oil change, was told I had a leak around the transfer case - mechanic wanted to go in and fix whatever he found for uncertain cost. He was a mechanic new to me and as the car is garaged, I watched for any sign of leak to the floor and found none. Went to my regular mechanic last week and he observed seepage around the transfer case but did a 'thorough clean of the surface' and said fuel level was full; will check next oil change to try and see where the seepage is coming from but not to worry about it.
I have had no significant issues with this car, and don't want to put unnecessary money into it at this mileage. If the fuel level isn't dropping in the transfer case, how imperative is it that I have him search for a leak?
Thanks

Felix, thanks. Have had transmission fluid replaced three times since purchase at 75k miles, and my former mechanic kept saying not necessary but I did it anyway. Always red, clean. Never to my knowledge was the transfer case oil drained. Lexus maintenance schedule is periodic 'check it'. Since there is seepage, sounds like you are saying I maybe should have transmission and rear differential changed at same time. (I thought transfer case oil is same fuel product as for oil change.) So I could have a leak in the transmission or rear differential; they could be causing the seepage?
