Melting dash or door panels on your RX?? No problem Lexus is replacing it!!
#91
I called our only local Lexus dealer last week, and a service advisor told me that the RX dash replacements are about 60 days out. They are still working on the car dash replacements at this time, and I would receive a seond letter from Lexus when the RX replacement program has started. He also stated that replacement in NOT guaranteed, that the owner is required to bring in your vehicle, have it inspected by a service manager, who then decides if the dash is bad enough to warant replacement. If it is, they will order a new dash for you and make an appointment to have it replaced once it arrives.
We actually have pieces of the black vinyl that have fallen off our dash near the glove box opening exposing the yellow foam underneath! I hope this qualifies as "bad enough" when the time comes!

I was under the impression from my dealer that mine would be replaced. I will be taking the 350 in for service in the next couple of weeks- I will have them check on my 2004. Several cracks and with the recent rains also fogged headlights. My last visit they stated they would do both at the same time/lights and dash/would be the September timeframe

I received a call from my dealer yesterday that our dash replacement was in and they are ready to schedule my appointment. We're trading voicemails now, no idea how long it will take, if I get a loaner, etc. But after months of calls and waiting it appears it's about over.

I was told May. Then June. Then September.
I called yesterday (Lexus of Orlando) and was told "we have no idea when the parts are coming in."
Not a happy camper -- my dash has huge chunks missing above the glove box and tons of other cracks.
On top of that now the leather on the steering wheel is flaking off. 2004 RX 330.

Follow up to my post # 96... my dealer said they have dashes in and I have my appointment tomorrow afternoon to drop the RX off. I will get a loaner and they should be done by the next afternoon. No cost to me, which I figured, but I was told they are not responsible for the plastic on the center console which also has to come off during the install. I don't see how the manufacturer will cover the cost and labor of a new dash but also say they won't cover any part that breaks.

I was told a few months ago from Lexus that the dashes should start being available by September. Had my other RX in for service and they said they have been replacing the dashes as the parts come in but that Lexus corporate should be sending me the info. I will be contacting Lexus directly to see if this is the case.

Final followup from post 98...the dash is replaced and looks nice. Took them about half a day total. They didn't do a perfect job (I have to trim a small piece of insulation away) but I'll take a free new dash on an 11-year old vehicle. Compared to most of you my dash didn't look that bad.

I am glad I found this forum. I had no idea they were replacing the dashboards. I never received a letter. I called the dealership, who looked up my VIN#, and they told me my 2004 RX dash was not listed to be replaced. They recommended I call LEXUS. Lexus recommended I take it to the dealership, have them look at it and then a case manager will call me in 2 days to let me know if they will replace it or not. My question to them was, how can they pick and choose who gets a dash and who doesn't. Bringing it in tomorrow to get inspected. I hope they put me on the list to replace it.

I also use the Tampa location. I received my 1st letter months ago and last month was advised by the local dealer they have replaced several and to wait for my 2nd letter from Lexus and at that time I should be able to schedule my replacement.
