Will this work? I used to have one that plugged into the cigarette lighter for a iight charge, will this solar one work the same way?

Priuschat forum had some recommendations for solar chargers. They won't work in the lighter plug as it is switched. You will need to wire to the battery.

This is what I've used for years. May not be what you need though.

Solar charger
If you can plug it into a power outlet, you can find them at $20 or less (check Amazon - ebay - autozone - newegg etc... or a google search). I have a couple (two cars!) and the better ones cycle in a certain way to 'repair' (somewhat) a bettery that is not in top form. They work really well. If you do not/cannot plug in to a power outlet (solar would make me think that), then, like the powered ones, you need to make a direct connection to the battery because the 12V outlets in the RX are switched off when the ignition is off.

This is what I use when I go out of town for more than 2 weeks. I have a hybrid and the 12 volt battery does not like to sit unused. http://www.walmart.com/ip/21721663

Thanks for the responses. I wanted a self contained unit that will work no matter where the car is parked hence the interest in solar. I think wiring a panel to the battery might be the way to go.
