Default New to the Lexus RX family

Hello everyone,

I surprised my wife and bought her a nice 2005 Rx 330 with 67000 miles. I think we got a really good deal as it is super clean, leaks no fluid, drives straight, has tight and flawless body panels and the leather is like no one ever sat in the passenger or rear seats. Car fax and auto check showed it being in an accident but that was minor damage. Those reference sites also showed regular service intervals and repair at a Lexus dealership. We are both happy. It doesn't drive like the Maxima, but it is comfortable and she is happy.

I have searched and read many threads on this forum and even used some of them. I notice a few things that seem to be common and I will address those as they come. I can't wait to try a few of the mods and tips I have seen thus far. We have good success with regular gas, plan on using mobile one or amsoil for the oil at the next change. We just put new tires on it and I think it may need new brakes as there is a tiny bit of pulsating not related to ABS.

What are a few beginner tips I should keep in mind during the first year of ownership?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Club Lexus, MtpRX330.

Pulsing while braking indicates warped or uneven rotors. May need turned. Problem could be from lug nuts being over torqued with an air gun.

Would recommend you have a look at the power steering fluid, which is actually a DEXRON II/III ATF. Discussed in the Owner's Manual. You can use a Mobil 1 ATF here. There is no service interval and is easy to overlook. Probable cause for many rack failures seen. Search the forums here at CL for more information.

Sounds like a nice car with low miles for the year. I recommend changing ALL the fluids, don't let the dealer tell you different, synthetics are best. RX330inFL is correct on the power steering fluid, I use a Liquivac and suck out the fluid in the reservoir every month or so.

MNSC3, I only found 2 or 3 RX's with less miles. I had to drive about an hour and a half to get it but it was worth it. We have a service schedule on friday and I will have all the fluids checked and changed. I want them to inspect the brakes and check transmission fluid as well. I checked all of those things and they looked good.

One other thing we are having checked out is the tailgate/lift gate window appears to have leaked at one time or another due to some water staining on the interior side window trim and body panel. It may have been a one time deal where they hauled something with the door open but I just want to make sure. Anyone else have this problem?
