Letter from Lexus headlight condensation....

Received my letter today, 1/4/2014, also. The sticker in a previous post is to be permanently put in your manual.
It appears that Lexus is not going to give everybody a new set of headlights. The dealer has to determine that condensation is happening and a potential cause for failure. If a failure has already occurred a full reimbursement of the cost is available.
Well, its better than nothing.

Got my letter too, 2004 RX330.
For those who haven't received a letter the space on the copy of the letter posted above will have your VIN on it. So it's not a random thing.

I got my letter too! My question is: My lamps do not show any evidence of moisture yet. Are all RX's subject to the problem regardless of where assembled? ie, domestic made lamp assemblies vs japan made lamp assemblies. My Thundercloud is a Japanese assembled model.

I got the letter from Lexus also. I had been thinking it was the outside lens the was clouding up and I would have to try one of the lens repair kits to restore the clear lens.
The letter is not clear about the process of getting Lexus to replace the headlight assemble. It mentioned a follow up letter will be coming via mail.

They are replacing headlamps that have failed, meaning not working due to excessive moisture and have damaged the electrical and does not light up.
Having excessive moisture alone does not guarantee replacement.
YMMV depending on the dealers' report, like anything else the dealer can request Lexus to replace but they have to show proof and evidence that they have to be replaced. So lesson to be learned, be nice to your Service Adviser, better yet the Service Manager.

Received a letter too and mine definitely got moisture inside after heavy rain. But after a couple of week, it evaporate. Now I need to wait for the rain again and show the headlights to the dealer..........Maybe I should just run water down the headlights and replicate the problem myself.

Many years ago, a lot of our members did exactly that, simulated heavy rain (or car wash) to get the moisture to show up on the head lamps. A lot of them got their HL replaced under the warranty, no questions asked. I missed the warranty period by 2 weeks and they would not honor it. Hence I ended up sealing it. In my case on rainy days, it would take days of sunny weather to get rid of the moisture.
But after sealing it, no problems, know on wood.
I do not think I will get a new HL since the one I have with the seal would look OK.

I will wait until heavy rain and moisture start building up inside, then bring the letter to the dealer so they can put me into the waiting list. So far not much rain in the SF bay area yet.
