Default another ipod/iphone integration thread sorry

sorry to make another post on this topic but i've searched and can't find the best option for me. also, most of the posts are older so i'm sure newer products have come out.

My GF has a 08 RX400h with factory nav and i would like to install a ipod interface for her. the only thing is i don't know which one to get.

looks like most people like the Vais but i've read that there are more options out there (Grom, USA-Spec, or DICE)

the only features she really needs/wants is ipod/iphone connectivity WITH charging (4G). i know some dont charge the iphone 3G+. And AUX input. video through ipod would be fine but not absolutely necessary. and the ability to control the ipod/iphone through the steering wheel or touch screen would be required.

also, what does the Toyota cable get you? i know that doesn't have a AUX but will it do the rest? i've also read that to have the ability to have more control over your system, some interfaces require you to have the latest lexus update, is that right? if so, how do i check what i have?

this is so confusing haha. thank you in advance for your help.

Get the base VAIS unit and you will be happy. If you search here at Club Lexus, many are happy with their purchase. Sure there are many other choices and others are happy with those as well. Just a matter of cost, customer service and personal preference when you get down to it.

X2, go with VIAS.

Here's a DIY for the VAIS SLI:https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-04-07-rx.html

thanks, i had a feeling i would get that.

i've read nothing but good things about their CS. what is the difference between the SL2i-UP and SL2Vi? only video? is that worth 150 extra? also, it didn't say that it offered a AUX input, something i would like to have because if i pay so much for this whats the point of being limited to an iphone.

also, what does the toyota cable offer? i would think its similar to the SL2i-UP.

looks like the Grom unit offers ipod/usb and AUX. what makes the Vias so much better, lets not take CS into account

The Toyota/Lexus kit is really not much more than a cable. Part number is: PT545-00082

Here is an existing thread on the topic:
