If there is a TSB, it shouldn't cost more than $100 dollars to fix

I was told by a Lexus tech that there is a fix for it, but it may reduce power and mileage. I haven't been able to verify that though. He was retired and had nothing to gain or loose. At that time my car was still under warranty and I chose not to have it done. Now I wish I had.

04' RX330 with 116,000, I have ticking/clicking noise like this one at 55 sec http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGYlO_peq1Q like it's diesel. It's most loud one on this movie. It's a little different engine then 330, but noise is same. I heard that noise long time ago, but never paid attention, when I decided to trade this car, I came on dealership, and they told I have bad noise, they have called mechanic even. So now i would like some answers, even i have an offer from dealer(different one) for $11,000.

BTW, anyone interested to buy? $12,000 and it's yours.

It is 'normal-ish'... depending on the loudness. My 01 es300 has a tick, always did since 75k miles when it was bought. My dad's RX330, doesn't have this, you can barely hear a minor tick when the hood is popped, but that's ALL cars since its simply the engine running.

Will the dealer honor a TSB if the car is out of warranty?

Depends on the TSB and the dealer. I had a TSB done after warranty but I think it is up to the dealer whether they will charge for it or not. Chat with your service advisor and see if they will cover it. I suspect if it is not too costly they may comp it just to keep a customer happy. If it is an expensive TSB, they may offer to cover part of the cost. Much depends on the dealer and your relationship with your service advisor/manager.

Try using some Lucas additive. It works. It will quiet it down a bit. Won't hurt your engine, too.

My car has done almost 180000km's (111800miles) and is pretty much quiet at idle. It's quite quiet.

Well if it`s the valves ticking a little, thats good. At least you know their not too tight. I remember when my friends played a joke on me. I had a 1971 ford Maverick, and it had the outside hood release. They got this bright idea to turn my ignition timing way back for a laugh. Well that joke cost me an exhaust valve, and when my Grandfather and I re shimmed all the valves (on the old Ford Straight six, they used shims) It had some slight valve taps. But ran better than it ever did before. He said they were too tight before we shimmed them. And if you tried to quiet down the old Chrysler slant six, they ran horrible as well. Noisy motor, but they ran forever.
