Default Where can I find this bit

I have lost the plastic cover for my left passenger rail and would like to get a replacement. Firstly these parts are rare in Australia as not a lot of RX's necessarily go to the wreckers. I have started looking on ebay but I think this may become a very hard endeavour to find the piece.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement cover? I can go through Lexus and just buy one now, but they are trying to charge me $125(Australian) for the black plastic cover (because it comes with some additional bits).

Does anyone know whether there is a Toyota equivalent number at all (like for the Kluger or RAV4 that would fit the rail). Here is a picture of what it looks like (fugly).

i see you have the cross rails removed, so i am guessing you dont use the roof rack.

if thats the case, i would do a search on the boards. Someone has the parts required to purchase fro mthe dealer to completely remove the roof racks. the parts you buy just fill the small gap in the run channel.

i think it gives a better look, and is has to be better on fuel mileage.

otherwise, dealer item only, possibly junk yard. but no aftermarket company will make those peices

I have removed my roof rack. Part of the reason was that this black plastic trim was loose and will eventually fly away.

I really like mine without the rack.

Search for posts on roof rack.

As for equal replacement from othet Toyota SUV's, that's not feasible. Each of the SUV's have their own design racks.

You might have to bite on that $125 price, sorry.

Yep. I had to replace a front & back on mine. It's like a punch in the gut for what they charge you for a couple pieces of plastic.

You might want to start sending PM's to those who took off their racks. They may be willing to sell that part to you. If not sorry but the dealer will be the only one to carry this piece. Did you check the price from a US dealer? If it's cheaper I'd be willing to buy and ship to you just to help out.

I would send you mine but want to have the option of re-installing my rack at a later time.

There might be a few who would though.

Search for the thread about the racks and you can see who had theirs done.

Good luck.

But that $125 is looking to be the only option you have. How much is Aus $ to US $?

$125 AUS = ~ $109 USD which is about what I had to pay.

I get all my stuff from Pembroke Pines in Florida, USA. They have a great online catalog that lets me choose everything I need and they have the lowest prices I've seen. Very convenient. I dunno how much it will cost to ship to Australia and if they actually do that, but it's worth a try.

The part is $38.17 without shipping and handling. There is a mandatory $5 charge on all orders. Hope this helps, good luck.

If you have problems with the link. Just search in the Collision Catalog > Roof > Roof Rack > Rear Cover.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I will have a further look into the US sites and gauge what postage may cost. I fear that by the end of it, jst with shipping, importing etc. etc. it may not be worth the headache and I may just have to order it from Lexus.
