Default Installing Tow Hitch Light on 07 Rx? Without Tow Package

Hi,
I have a 2007 Rx 350 that I installed a tow hitch on. However I also need to install the cabling for a tow hitch light in order to legally pull a trailer. Has anyone installed this themselves? I ordered a kit from ETrailer but they don't provide specific info for my Rx. Thank you!

remove all the plastic bins and spare tire accessorry holder from the rear and look for a rubber grommet , you can remove that and fish your harness through there.

I would advise against towing anything without the tow package.

Check behind all of the plastics in the trunk. I put a hitch on my 09 rx350 so I can use a bike rack. There’s already wiring in place. Forgot which hidden compartment I found it but it was already there.

got it! Do you recommend against towing without the tow package because of the radiator? I only plan on towing a trailer in town short distances

You found the harness?

I don’t tow anything, just a bike rack. I don’t see an issue with a small trailer around town. A friend of mine tow his 14’ boat with his 2005 rav4 for the past 2 years without an issue. Boat weighs around 600lb.

Not sure if mine came with a tow package. I don’t see any transmission cooler so I don’t think so. My RX is AWD.

I towed with my 07 with tow package. 4x6 uhaul trailer with bedroom furniture in it and a toolbox when I helped my mother in law move. Other times with other household furniture. Nothing i could call a heavy payload except for heavy bedroom furniture but that's prob nothing vs bricks or concrete. Did it a few times on flat nj roads extensively last year, I could definitely feel the car struggling. Gear shifts would be longer. Never anything to make me uncomfortable but I got the tranny and diff fluid changed when i was done that part of my life though!.

#1 - On the front bumper look into the slot under the driver's side fog light, if it has a tiny radiator set was back it has the tow package
#2 - email Lexus/Toyota America ask them to email you the build sheet, I did that with mine last year it'll tell you what options your car has. This is free
#3- on the driver's side of the radiator look at the very bottom corner, if it has two small hoses attached it has the tow package. The tow package requires a different radiator than the non tow model

if you input the VIN in the Lexus app, you can see that immediately.

hit “Glovebox,” then “Specs and Capabilities,” then specs.
