Default 2005 RX330 brake pedal

Hello, I have a 2005 RX330 with 10k miles. I have noticed recently that every once in a while when I apply the brake, I can feel a "clunk" in the brake pedal. The vehicle stops fine and there are no other noises. Again, this does not happen all of the time but it does seem more frequent in stop and go traffic when the brakes are really hot. I love the vehicle and can't say enough good things about it.

Can you explain the clunk ... does the brake pedal drop or you can hear a noise .. like metal to metal. Turn the AC off and see if the behavior changes ... [The AC changes the rpm when engaged and that in turn changes the vacuum and that affects the brake booster ...

I have a 2005 RX330 AWD and I have the exact problem you are hearing. "Clunk" very annonying! I brought it to the dealer and they said that is normal! I test drove another Rx330 and the problem is there also.

I don't hear it though on the new RX350.

Do you drive the car often?

Same problem for me, but I believe its mainly having to do with not driving the car in a while, and taking it for a spin.

Default RX330 brake pedal clunk

I do not drive the car that often considering 10k miles after two years. I love the car and have discussed tis with the dealer and have gotten the same response "its normal. I have to agree that other RX's that I have driven have a similiar brake pedal feeling. I guess I am not alone with this one.

This has nothing to do with "how often you drive the car". I drive the car everyday and the problem happens every single day!

I think it is a design flaw!

How many times have you taken it to the dealer and complained about it? Try another dealer, perhaps?

make the technicians ride with you and have them listen. sometimes the dealers need convincing.

Default RX330 Brake Pedal

I have had the car back to the dealer for normal mtce only thankfully and the comment is always the same, "its normal." My daughter just picked up a 2007 and it has the same thing. I have to say that it is not all of the time but often enough to become annoying. I go to Prestige Lexus in NJ and they are very accomodating.

Believe me....I've tried that approach. I drove with two technicians and both still said that's not a problem eventhough they heard it. They said that is normal.

I will take my car to another dealership and see what they have to say.

Good luck with your search for the truth! I have not noticed mine do it. I will be more sensitive next time we take the RX for a drive. It is supposed to be my wife's daily car, but since my daughter is off to college, she's using the her CRV! So the RX sits in the garage 6/7 days. Weekends, we take it for a ride!

Make sure you drive the car and get your warranty done before it expires!
4 yrs or 50k which ever comes first.

I have my list of things to complain about before the warranty is up. Most of the powertrain is more than the 50K, 4 years.
