Door Sill Covers
Hey Everybody - Just wanted to say Hi and this is my first time joining and writing to this Forum. I have a brand new RX 350 that is less than a month old and my wife wanted to get the color Savannah for the car. Well, it's a nice color but easily shows scratches and scuff marks. I'm interested in knowing if there are clear door sill covers so they don't get scratched? I have seen those on older corvettes. I dont' want to cover up the Lexus logo.
Also, any ideas or thoughts about the RX? What about HID Foglamps?

Out of Warranty
Welcome to CL, Vrynice!
Hmmm I don't seem to recall a specific product to protect the door sill plates, but you can do two things: First just be careful not to grind a foot on the sill, like a short person stepping up there to clean the windshield. Second, keep them clean and free of abrasive particles that will scratch.
I'm not sure how practical it might be, but you could try something like Xpel, Stongard, Clearbra, or one of a number of fitters of 3M film designed to protect the finish of your car. It's a tough plastic film that applies like a decal right over the paint. It's pretty rugged, and in that application should be completely invisible. I'm not aware of any "manufacturer" of these kits offering a pre-cut piece for this application, but maybe you can talk a local dealer into a custom job, or out of a couple of scraps to experiment with.
Any ideas out there?

Thanks for the info. I will take a look at some of the options you offered and see which ones are the best for my purpose. See I can be very careful, but other people might not be so careful.. And honestly, how long can you go on constantly telling people not too hit or scratch your car. They'll think your a freak. But thank you anyway. People just don't appreciate other people's cars.
