Can a backup proximity warning device
be added to the RX. Parallel parked my wife's 330 this past weekend and couldn't see squat. It was a grit your teeth and ease on back deal. A rear camera (but we don't have nav) or a audible warning type system would be real handy in this vehicle as it has NO rear visibility at least for a low and close object. Does the RX have an audible warning option that could be retrofitted or is there a decent third party add on available that someone here has experience with?

In my opinion, once you get use to your car. I don't need any backup sensor or camera. It is experience. It took a while to learn to parael parking at dark
The backup camera in our RX (part of the navi package) is good but not the best. It has no audible warning or readings (i.e. 2 ft or 1/4 ft) on the screen. It would the best if Lexus has parking sensor with backup camera.

Yes...it can.
I used to have a diplomatic friend down here with an RX300, actually a Toyota Harrier they brought all the way from Asia (wow!), and he had rigged this up.
One of my friends had it installed on her Murano down here, so I have no doubt these things can be done.

I put in an aftermarket rear sensor system. I have the back camera but it does not tell you the distance. Lexus should have offered backup sensors as an option?

Backup Camera Not As Good!
I had a 2001 Volvo V70 with a third party backup camera and a 2005 Infiniti FX45 which came with a backup camera. Both were much better than the FX-350's. I can't tell when I'm close to something and it's worthless at night. I purchased the RX because I didn't want sensors which have many limitations. I plan to add third party sensors! I had a 2005 Avalon which had backup senors installed by a third party for my Toyota dealer, $350.00 with visual and audio alarms.
