Hatch closes on its own
I bought a 2006 RX 330 on Nov 1 and like an earlier poster, mine also has a hatch that closes on its own right after it opens. It seems to do it more when it's cold outside, which supports the idea that the struts are too tight. No great urgency so I'll bring it in when I get a chance.
Are we the only two to experience this problem? Is it just in the 2006 models?

Out of Warranty
Welcome to CL, asumba!
Does the tailgate open all the way, then close . . . or just a few inches? My 2004 did the latter a couple of times right after I got it, then no more problems. I've also had the tailgate refuse to open with the remote, but when I opened it manually and shut it, it worked fine. I know the latter situation was covered in a TSB, replacing one of the body computers - but since it only happens about once a year, I haven't worried about it.
Any ideas?

power lift gate opens and then closes
Hi,
This is my experience. If you activate the power lift gate and it can't open all the way, like it hits something, then it will automatically close again. When it does this, the beeping pattern is different than when you actually press the button and intentially have it close itself.
In your case, if it doesn't hit anything, it is possible that the limit switches need to be looked at by the dealer. In any case, have the dealer look at it. It's possible something is stuck inside.

Lift gate auto reversing
I have a 2008 RX350; when I open the rear lift gate it often opens almost all of the way, then beeps and starts to close. If I stop it from closing it will reverse and start to open again, then open almost all the way then auto reverse again. If I stop it a second time it disengages the automatic closer. I’m think it might be weak hydraulic cylinders. It seems to be happening more since the weather has gotten colder. It happens about 70% of the time. Thoughts & suggestions? TIA

My guess is your hatch struts are shot. It can not raise it to full up (because struts are weak), hence it is not reaching the limit switch and therefore it closes it (time out).
