Default Power door problem

On hot (>90 degrees), sunny days the power door on my 2004 RX 330 does not respond properly to the remote. The door unlocks and moves about a half inch, then abruptly reverses and closes. The door seems to work fine except under the weather conditions mentioned above. Anyone else have this problem?

TAke it back to the dealer ahd just tell them your power hatch doesn't always work. There is a TISB about this problem and they will replace the power hatch ECU.

Default Thanks!!!

Thanks to CK6speed and rxdriver for quick replies to my thread.

How do I find out about whether there are other TSIBs that might be applicable to my RX330?

Also, how do I find my serial number?

Thanks again!

Search the forum for "TSIB" (Technical Service Information Bulletin). There are lots of threads, particularly for the 2004 RX 330.

Your serial number is the last 7 digits of the VIN number.

Here are some links that will give you an idea of the most common issues.

EL002-04 was released March 30, 2004.
It's for general intermittent malfunction of the power back door. Solution is to replace the ECU for the door. A lot of people complained about the door either not going up or not going down when you hit the button (inside or remote).

The ECU is located in a heck of spot... you need to remove a LOT of the interior trim pieces in the cargo area and left side rear seat to get at the thing. The TSIB says it's only a 1 hour project, but it looks a lot more involved than that. I guess 90% of it is popping off little platsic clips that hold the interior together, so maybe the pros are good at doing that quickly.
