RX 400h auto shut off?
Does anyone know if it’s normal for the RX 400 to shutoff if you stopped for a length of time.
I pulled over on my street to talk to a neighbor about our new car. During what I guess was 15 minutes the engine came on two or three times. My guess was to briefly charge the batteries.
At end of what I guess was 15 minutes the vehicle entirely shutoff. I restarted it right away. Only the battery seemed to be on. About 5 minutes later the car shut down again.
I started the car and was able to drive it home.

As long as the "ready" light is illuminated, the car is ready to drive. The computer will cycle on the gas engine as it sees fit in order to charge the battery or keep the coolant temperature up. Are you saying the entire dash went blank and the ready light was off??

400h shut off
The engine came on twice during the 15 minutes, I assume to charge the batteries. After 15 minutes it just plain shut down, dash light and all. I restarted again and this time it shut off after 5 minutes. I tnen restarted and drove away with no apparant issues.
Today I needed to return some calls from the vehicle on a cell phone (not Bluetooth) and sat for almost 20 minutes with the ready light on with no probs, engine came on once as expected.
