Default Anybody retrofit newer tail-lights?

The tail-lights in the 2001-2003 Gen 1 RX are a much better looking light than in the 1999-2000. Has anyone ever retrofit the new lights into an old body? I am certain that there is a different wiring harness required.

It is a matter of personal preference. I personally do not like that much bling both inside and outside. My understanding is that it is a simple swap, but lets wait for some one to confirm it.

I have not, but I too remember reading about a harness change required. There are a few threads on it, perhaps a search will yield some useful results.

You can make the stock tail lights much brighter by using LED bulbs plug and play I found them at DDM tuning they are the Cree bulb tail lights I also bought the Cree clear backup lights. both the red and clear are just
as bright as the new cars running the newest LED tail light assembly's. you can call DDM at 714=901-5080 or ddmtuning.com. They also carry HID headlight systems with life time warranty and now carry LED head lights.

Thanks Bill, but even if brighter they will still be ugly.

If you dislike them, I can find a good home for them ... specially the driver side tail light.

Salim: If I ever get this done I'll be sure to save the old ones for you.

Ugly they are brighter than hell they are also, with LEDs reflecting off the interior of the light it does give taillights a different look. When you have just the running lights on they are as bright as the brake lights and the brake lights. You don't want to stand behind them or you will get a sunburn lots of laughs. I believe they are using the Cree L2 chip which is the brightest chip on the market today you got to see them to believe them. I have noticed people staying A distance back when I hit my brakes I like to think this is a good safety factor for rear end accidents.

Each to his own. Ugly to one can be very desirable to the other. Any amount posts/reasoning will not change the opinion the other has.
