I have 166.6K miles on my 2002 RX300. Definitely the best car I have ever owned. Very little maintenance has been required.

The new RX's are quite a bit larger, I don't like the looks, and I don't like the interior feel. I tried a new NX as a loaner car and didn't care for it either.

If/when I get another car, I'd consider a Toyota RAV4 hybrid and an Acura RDX maybe. Compared to my RX300, all the new cars leave me fairly cold.

1999 RX300 - bought it new for the missus soon after they came out. 190,000 miles. We had several unexpected problems between 60,000 and 100,000 (fuel system related) which cost us a couple of grand for issues that should have never happened with the car. Other than that, it's now just routine maintenance and expected repairs. The car is worth about $2500 so I found a cheap mechanic who does good work and keeps it running. It's our backup car. The wife uses it more like a pickup truck for lugging all kinds of sh_t around!

I never did care for the 3rd or 4th generation styling - one of the reasons, I think, that we never upgraded.

Love the RX 300.
It has its quirks but the family still love the 300 . Ours have 45K on it and
we are looking forward to the next 45K

1999 RX, 245K, original owner, second transmission. Still used as daily driver. Just bought 2003 RX with 93K, one owner, dealer maintained, spotless condition.

My RX - 1999 model has just crossed 240K miles. The paint on the roof is fading and the hood is starting to fade as well. We had a transmission problem right at 45K miles (or 50K) I can't remember, its been a long time - the car had just come out of warranty - however Lexus took care of it. We are down to only the valet key and one of the rear window does not roll down or up...and of course no antenna. Sometime back I had 2-ignition coils and spark plugs replaced.

I had purchased the car in 1998 brand new and recently handed it down to my son...I hope he can get a few years out of it!

Solidly reliable....makes me want to buy another RX...but I can't seem to fall in love with the new designs...ugh.

We have a 2003 in this same color scheme - great car. However, ours has quite a bit more than 45k miles on it - nice job of babying it!

2002 with 245K, second tranny at 210K. It's starting to cost a bit too much for maintenance/repair than I like, but it's still running.

Alternator, starter, locks & servos are all OEM and functioning. Antenna cable broke, so I unplugged the motor. On KYB front shocks now (ride is quite bumpy ) and hatch door needs new supports. Overall, can't complain.

I meant my 01 is my favorite. I hope everyone keep their 1st Gen RX
In my opinion, the 1st gen RX is timeless
