The blue tube seals are Felpro brand. When I originally decided to replace the vavle cover I bought a set of gaskets from rockauto.com. The set came with 2 cover gaskets and 6 tube seals. I used 3 of the tube seals on the front valve cover and they fit loose and I added black RTV to seal them to the cover. In my opinion, the felpro tube seals are not as good as the OEM seals. I bought 3 Toyota tube seals for the rear gen 2 cover I installed. The blue seal in the copper cover are the remaining 3 from the gasket set. I would recommend using OEM seals if you havent bought them yet.

I purchased a Fel-Pro VS50588R Valve Cover Gasket Set for my 1999 and they are black... Came in a sealed Fel-Pro box...

Wonder why there are two colors available from Fel-Pro...

Felpro may have gone back to black and I happened to get some from an old stock. They were bright blue on my IS300 as well. I think the blue looks too ricer to me. glad they switched.

Unconfirmed, but Felpro switched to a source in China.

I'll check my packaging to see if it says where mine were made...

Salim,

you are partly correct. It appears that the blue set is/was made in China.

Default Oil Consumption

I have changed allot on this vehicle. First mechanic change the valve cover gasket saying I was leaking from there. After changing all tune up parts though maybe I fixed the oil condumption issue from replacing oil pan gasket and other valve cover gasket. I had to even change a knock sensor. Anyways after seeing your post and others online I do believe you might have nailed it on the head when others would guess. Can I order a used valve cover online the one with the screw pcv. It is cheaper than new. 2002 LEXUS RX300 (MCU10) - REAR VALVE COVER Please let me know I have been changing parts on this vehicle and it always drives better like a dream but finding more about the vehicle including whenever you unplug anything electrical you have to reset the computer or it might run funny.

Sincerely, Charlie
