Update
Hi Everyone,
As promised, here is an update:
Cleared the ABS light (temporarily). Speedo started working again. Codes: 31, 32, 33, 34. All codes indicate that speed sensors not working. So, I assume that I need to replace the speed sensors in order to finally get ride of pesky ABS light.
ABS was clear by putting metal clips into DLC port 1 and pumping brake pedal >8 times rapidly.
Advice: replace the speed sensors?

Hard to say. Could be the sensor or the reluctor (tone ring) has failed, or its dirty.
But after you cleared the codes, what happened? In my case before clearing I have 31-34, after the ABS light pops on again but I have 33-34. So my speedo keeps working even though two wheels are still bad. Last time I had to clear again was after a snowstorm. I don't know if the speedo keep working as long as any wheel is working, or if a specific one is still working.

@maxSteel,
About a km down the street, my ABS light came back on, but speedo still works. I would assume that it will continue working for another year, and then stop abruptly. All 4 sensor codes were present.

That's odd. In my case the speedo fails when I get all four codes.
After clearing the ABS light comes back after I drive a bit but I only have 2 codes (33 & 34), and the speedo keeps working.
If you still have all 4 and the speedo is working anyway then I don't know what to say.
What about the fuel gauge?

Fuel gauge works too! I have to get another E-test next year, so I will replace all 4 speed sensors to clear the ABS. Can`t get the test done with dash lights...

Most like with CEL you will fail emission, but not necessarily with ABS. Check with the local inspection shop. The rules are pretty complicated.
The one over here is:
If your vehicle has wipers then they must be in working condition and clear out the screen.
But if the vehicle has no wipers, then the above does not apply.

Salim,
Yes, my CEL is on too, for emissions related faults. Up North, we just need to have a clear dash in theory in order for the car to be ready for the test. We don`t need to complete safety inspections while the car is in our possession, only emissions tests. Safety inspections are to be completed when cars transfer ownership!

What CEL based codes are you getting? Address them till you have no CEL. Most likely you will pass the inspection with the ABS light on. ABS is part of enhanced safety.
As an example, you may have the battery discharge lamp on, indicating a problem with the charging system. With that you can still pass emission.
Here in Travis county, we have to have safety as well as emission tested. I have a 1995 SC and since it is pre-OBDII, they have to stick a sensor up the exhaust pipe to monitor emission. The fun part is when they have to maintain 2500rpm .. dead weight on the gs pedal.
There are places where inspection requires the vehicle to be in "Drive". They strap the the vehicle down and there are horror stories about technician putting the front wheels on the roller for a rear wheel drive vehicle.

ABS is not an inspection item in my state. Cars are not required to have ABS.
When I have all four ABS speed sensor codes I also get a CEL for 'P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor'. I don't know if that would be considered an emission related code for inspection purposes.

In my case: It all started with ABS 34 and a working speedometer, then I had all four codes with no speedometer, then reset ABS, the ABS light did come on but then only had 34 when rereading the codes after the ABS light came back on.
Replacing the left rear axle with a used axle with an intact tone ring has finally cleared my ABS light.

Some times the ABS and Trac pop up as sympathy codes to CEL.
What I have been trying to say is ,, ignore the ABS and focus on CEL.
