can airbag mechanism in glovebox be left dangling?
anyone know if i can leave the yellow airbag mechanism hanging there? my filter is filthy and i'd rather not have to take off the glovebox cover and put it back again when my part is delivered (no one will be sitting in passenger seat of course). i just dislodged the mechanism from the cover without disconnecting the plugs. it'd also help me monitor a servo i just fixed, but would be useful to know for the future how these things work for safety or repair reasons. quick response appreciated. TIA.

Are you talking about the electrical connector?
I would suggest not, to be on the safe side.
In some vehicles, if you turn the ignition on, with the air bag disconnected, the ECU thinks the air bag has been deployed and the airbag light will come on.

+1, I suggest not messing with it. Continue removing the plastic piece that is is clipped onto the glovebox which holds the wire. It's simple enough and will serve your purpose.

Let us know
If you did turn on the ignition with the connector unconnected, let us know
a) Did it trigger AirBag light
b) How do you reset the airbag light.

i am not quite disconnecting or unplugging anything. more like unhooking the airbag mechanism that is clipped onto the glovebox. it looks like other people have done this when testing their servos which is what i now need to do too since it is still not working after repair.

I need to test my servo and the related arms so now need to turn the car on with the cover removed to have visual access to the servo area.
