High Mileage Oil discussion

Well; for peace of mind; I would highly consider changing the valve cover gaskets and possibly consider switching to the second gen valve cover(s) if you have the diy ability to do it yourself. Doing that would hopefully help eliminate at least the 2 valve covers/gaskets as possible culprits for oil leaks. But at that point you should also keep a eye on the "main" seals as well which if there are or were any leaks, hopefully switching to the high mileage oil if u have not already will help them swell a bit to hopefully prevent any further leaks. I had a local shop where i get my oil changes done start using high mileage oil with every oil change even though its more expensive. however; by mistake; this last oil change I forgot to tell them to use high mileage oil. Thankfully, I have no leaks so far and hopefully when i switch back to high mileage for the next oil change it wont cause any issue(s).

bumping this thread.
some people say high mileage oils/products swell seals while others say they just condition (for purposes of discussion condition does not equal swell) them. perhaps different products have different effects but does anyone have any experience to share? i currently have HM in my engine and am considering putting maxlife which has conditioners in power steering. if there's any potential for these product to swell (which could damage?) or otherwise cause any unwanted consequences to good seals (including any seal in the system), i will reconsider using them and maybe even gtfo of my car...
