Mini ELM 327 BlueTooth ODB II
There was a recent thread about scan tools for reading codes etc.
I mentioned one possible solution and here are some details.
I bought eBay item #331580924530 which is a mini white Bluetooth to OBD II interface.
It works fine with the RX300. It does not "support all OBD II protocols" as it says it does.
I paired it with my Android phone and downloaded the free Torque lite app.
In no time at all it was working flawlessly with the RX.
There are a variety of plugins for the Torque app and a $5 pro version of the app.
This will allow you to add gauges and watch in real time things like the AF sensors or throttle position or coolant temp etc.
It will also allow you to retrieve, lookup, and store DTCs.
I do not have any affiliation with the seller or the product or the app. I won't guarantee that if you buy it that yours will work. I'm only passing on one solution that is specific to the RX because none of these ELM clones actually read all ODB II protocols. Only the real ones using real ELM chips and costing a lot more will work with everything. Also, in reading various forums, I am led to believe that even the eBay vendors don't know when they order a batch of these things which protocols will work or won't.
So for right now(ish) there is this one that I bought and it worked.
If you only need/want one for the RX then you're golden. In my case I was hoping for one that would also work with the SAE J1850-VPW protocol used in Lexus LX450/470 but this one did not.
There is a huge amount of info out there for the Torque app and there are problems connecting any apple device to any Bluetooth device that isn't running an apple security chip without running jailbreak. So if you have an apple do your homework first before buying anything.
This video does an ok job as a Torque intro.

Yes your OBDII dongle must be compatible with your phone (or other device) and the app you choose. I paired my Apple iphone (4s) with a Panalong dongle for WIFI and the Dash Command app.
Panalong wireless interface - Amazon.com $19
Dash Command-Apple itunes store- $10
Works great with my 1st gen Highlander (2003) and my sons Jeep (1998) Haya....
Oh, at first the phone may not recognize the WIFI signal from the interface. Go into Settings...go to WIFI....and manually select the OBDII network. After doing that for subsequent uses the phone finds it by itself.
