RX 300 Alternator locking bolt broken
Does anyone have had the alternator locking bolt A broken (the one close to the belt tensioner bolt C ).
How can I remove the alternator and repair it.
Thanks

When you say it is broken, what do you mean ... the head is rounded off and you can no longer turn it?
If broken mean a broken bolt then the lock will be free and you should be able to turn 'C'.
In shear desperation (and if you intend to replace the accessory belt) you can cut the belt. Once the tension is released, undo the 'B' bolt. One that side is free, you can wiggle the alternator to break the bind under A.
There are sockets that can grab the rounded nut/bolt-head.
The 'C' bolt assembly is fairly cheap. Price it at the dealership.

Salim, thank you for the replay.
A mean The Lock bolt "A" come off half(sheared), the other half is inside in the assembly. Belt tension is released. Do I have to remove the alternator to replace the 'C' bolt assembly ?
Is the bolt "A" threaded to alternator body or It is coming out with the 'C' bolt assembly ?

Where can i find Bolt A
Hey fellas , bringing this thread a little bit back to life. I was wondering if anyone knew where i can find bolt/tensioner "A" in the diagram to purchase. Yesterday i was changing both my belts and i noticed on my 2000 Rx300 the tensioner bolt/ locking bolt thing was completely missing. I guess that was the cause of my horrible squeaking upon startup. So in other words, i have bolt B and bolt C but I'm missing the tensioner/locking device where "A" is located. Does anyone have a part number for that ? Thanks for all your help!
Cheers

Ebay has new ones for $8 and up. Part number 16385-20010
then go to ace hardware and buy a bolt for it. Long enough to go thru the slider, bracket and alternator ear. Buy a new adjusting bolt as well. M8 x 1.25 90mm long

DrCoffee you are awesome!
Thanks for your help, i just ordered the ebay part you recommend, now ill stop by ace hardware after work. So just to be clear i need (2) bolts? one to go through the slider, bracket and alternator . & then another bolt which would be the adjusting bolt , which you referred specifically as (M8 x 1.25 90mm long)?
So example "A" in the diagram has two bolts required in order to properly tighten ? Please confirm
Thanks so much again !

The long bolt is the tensioner and is 90mm. Make sure to get a bolt with threads the full length. I don't know how long the locking bolt is and I don't know if its the same thread pitch. You might want to wait until it arrives and take the slider with you.
Glad I could help
