Default Question re: oil control valve

We all know that frequently an electro-mechanical-hydraulic part that "fails" has simply gotten dirty or clogged and can be revived with simple cleaning. Question: does this same logic apply to the oil control valves? I replaced one several years ago but saved the one I removed. Just curious.

I had the code pop on once and I removed and cleaned and re-installed valved. One valve was hard to pull out and I broke the screen on one during re-assembly. Did the bench test with battery and every thing checked out. Put every thing back and have not had any problems since then.

Do a bench test and if you are happy put the old one in. Oh if the thing has been sitting on the shelf, remember to lube it with engine oil.

The logic is sound to me as long as measured resistance is the same with an operational one.

What did you guys use to clean? Brake cleaner?
Do you either of you have a picture of their location on the RX?

Could you point out which section? I did not see it in the RX DIY list.

I knew what you were talking about, but I had to search for VVT to find the DIY. It's on the third page of the DIY list.

Thanks, i was searching for the terms " oil control valve" but netted nothing when searching the stickies. I should have used the acronym OCV. Good DIY, the ohm listing was what i was thinking of to check for spec.
