New Head Bolts
Greetings to the group,
I have a 2000 AWD RX300 with 200,000 miles. The rear main was leaking and the head gasket on 3 and 5 let go. So the engine and trans is out of the car. Turns out both head gaskets were leaking. I see that new head bolts are available. The question is, should the bolts be replaced when the gaskets are changed? I know these only get torqued once. So I thought it was possible that the head bolts are torque to yield in which case they can only be used one time. Thanks in advance for you help.
Best regards,
Phil

Sorry, I have been busy and to answer your question, I will have to look through the service manual (not handy right now).
Till that time, hopefully some one else can answer. If you have moved on or found an answer, please post.
This post will at least bump the post.

This dont answer your question but why would you reinstall a motor that has problems and has 200k miles on it? You can get a low mileage engine for a reasonable price for a plentiful 3.0 toyota motor.

Thanks Salim. That is what I needed to know.
To answer your question Bobster. The bottom end is fine. There is no ridge and the hone marks are still very evident. The only issue I have is a wear groove in the flywheel flange on the crank shaft from the old oil seal. I will order a Speedi Sleeve tomorrow and install it and the new seal and new valve seals and it's ready to go back together. This is the first time I have had to deal with removing an engine from a RX 300. So I took my time. If I have to do it again for main bearings or the transmission it will go much faster.
Thanks for the help.
