I just wanted to add this on here being a old RX300 owner and experiencing this issues myself. I work at a hotel where I can see what cars people pull up in. I had a guest pull up in a 1999 Lexus RX300 AWD. I asked him if he had any issues with the transmission or any blue smoke/sludge issues. The owner said he never had those issues even though he has heard so much about them. This owner was the original owner of the RX and he said that he used dino oil and always changed his oil every 3k. He did also, have a drain and fill done every 30k on the tranny. Just some food for thought on this old issue. Makes me be more religious on fluid changes, hope it does for others as well! BTW the car is currently at 183k!!!
