Anyone try a paint pen for bumper paint chips?
My RX has several small paint chips on the bumper. For $16 I can get a supposedly matching color paint pen. It also says I need to use a clear coat pen as well. Has anyone tried this? Given the age/mileage I'm not looking for it to look perfect, just less noticeable than it does now.

I've used the paint touch-up tubes you can get at the dealer, along with ultra small micro brushes with good success. The 2-stage (i.e., base and clear) paint on my lower panels and my mother's ES300 touch up really easily. The 3-stage (i.e., base, top, and clear) of my RX300 top and sides is much more difficult to touch-up. I don't think there are any 2-tone RX300's with 3-stage paint on the bumpers, but I could be wrong.

The new Lexus touch-up paint bottles have a small "nib" in the top now that serves the same purpose as the pens. I got one of those pens for my BMW and the "tip" (a fiber material) clogged up pretty quickly, rendering it useless. Don't worry about the clear coat on an older car - it's still going to look "touched-up".
