Light vibration/rumble at idle
Hi all, I just picked up a nice 03 RX with 137k. Appears to have been well maintained, with dealer service records online. It drives great and gets about 21 mpg with mostly city driving.
I am notoriously picky when it comes to car issues, so I am thinking this may all be in my head -but if I have the car in park, there is absolutely no noise and idles smooth. However, shifting into D with my foot on the brake results in a *very* minor increase in noise, almost a low pitch hum. Shifting back into park eliminates the noise.
Other than that, the car idles and sounds like new. 750 rpm idle speed. I changed trans/transfer case/ rear diff/engine oils upon purchase. All looked great with no signs of wear.
Is this low hum normal? Anything notable to check? I pulled one of the plugs last week, and it looked like it had been replaced recently, was a NGK plug in good condition and color.

The vibration in "D" is kind of a common thing. People have tried replacing motor mounts and transmission mounts, but the vibration usually persists. If you do a search you will find a bunch of threads on that.
I don't have the vibration all the time. It comes and goes. I don't mind it, it still run's like a champ!
