Anyone added the Lexus roof bars to an RX300 after purchase?
Hi - I got the RX300 roof rack cross bars through Eddie at Manhattan Lexus (thanks Eddie, great deal, great service!) and I've attached them, but not sure I did it right.
Note: If you haven't seen the mounting hardware, this probably won't make any sense to you...
I slid the metal 'plates' into the rails in position with the open square toward the back (which the piece under the back end of the bar goes into).
I then pressed the rubber square 'thingy' into the rails between the two raised parts of each metal plate, figuring it's a cushion for the bar once it's screwed down.
Finally I screwed down the bars to the plates with the *****.
If anyone can give any pointers as to whether I did it right or what I did wrong, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

To take pictures I'll have to take off the bars... but I may end up doing that.

Bit, I can remove my cross bars and take some pictures for you tomorrow after classes (about 1:30pm). Did you buy the '99 or '00+ style bars?
The ones on the large RX pic are the '99 style and the others in the small pic are the '00+

Thanks LexRX! I assume the bars I just got are '00 since they're brand new. Our RX though is a '99.

Bit, long story short, you did it right. How you explained it is how my bars are installed. With the exception of my driver's side though They were installed incorrectly. The tab on the bottom of the roof bar wasn't slid into the open square-end of the brackets that slide. It's fixed now.
The only difference I see is the rubber squares. I only have two and they rest on the very front of the railing by themselves. I left them there. I have a few pics that are too big to post so I will email them to you just for positive reference.
