Those were apparently quite fine. However, I was told quite enough times that the vehicle should be given at least a month of daily driving to see how it handles. This morning I still had some minor twitching in first gear, but it was dramatically decreased from yesterday.

The process of modifying the torque converter was something I found amazing. Especially, since given the lack of Toyota vehicles in Mexico (and the fact I rarely hear or see them modified) that they could do this kind of work. From what I do know of what occurred, they did contact someone in the United States regarding my engine and the type of converter used to make sure what they were going to do matched my engine. So obviously, when the wrong converter was installed, it was noticed. I don't understand myself quite the process involved in making it high stall, though I do know some of the parts involved. I may ask some questions next weekend of them to see if I can get an idea of anything special they did, though both Chinito and the people who modified the torque converter are very tight lipped about their modifications, but are pretty open to discussing what makes the transmission screw up.

Muchisimas gracias.

Very quick and convenient for my father to drive out there and pick up the stuff right by Dulles. I should be up in about two weeks to visit DC, though I wish I were taking my RX300 up there to test out at MIR (Maryland International Raceway).

Man that was quite an interesting thread.
I wonder if this could be saved for future reference. Glad you got everything working and in order!

Somehow I remember something like 125 pounds, but if feels like more. You definitely need two people to lift it given its odd shape.

Unhappy how to drop tranny without needing to suspend engine

okay so does that mean i don't have to suspend the engine afterall? i can just loosen the engine bolts slightly so I can remove the tranny from around the frame? PICTURES PLEASE! i have never done a diy tranny removal before and i am going to do a rebuild. so nervous about being crushed!

I remember this very well, but I will tell you unless you have the actual tools and help to do this, do not do this on your own. The only pictures I have of this are what is posted as this was 15+ years ago and in Mexico and no longer even have my RX300. The weight of the that tranny is significant.

The engine I will tell you does not need to be suspended, but the vehicle does need to be lifted up in the front.
