Default Wal Mart Synthetic Oil

Its $12/5qts vs $23 for Mobil 1

Is there really that much difference in product?

How often should I change oil if I only drive 400 miles/month.

Use the Mobil 1 and make sure it is a 5W30 weight Mobil 1. with that amount of mileage, about every 9 months if you want to be on the safe side.

At only 400 miles a month that's more reason to use Mobil 1. Even if you did change every 3 months that's 4 times a year times $11 savings by using Walmart Synthetic which equates to $44 for Walmart Oil.........bleh not worth it.

on bob is the oil guy's web site, the walmart oil (dino) was rated absolutley horrible. I would expect the same from their synth. You get what you pay for...

I agree, buying Mobil 1 is one of the more inexpensive things you do for your Lexus in the overall scheme of things, especially with your driving schedule.

Many use conventional oil in their Lexus.
So is Regular Penzoil better for my RX than WalMart brand FULL synthetic?

I would not use either. Only oils I would consider putting in my RX300 are Mobil 1 and Amsoil and only in a pinch would I use something else.

That is not to say there aren't other good synthetics out there like Castrol, Redline and Royal Purple. I heard of some Harrier owners in Asia using Liqui-Moly (which makes some of the friction modifiers I use due to racing activities).
