99 RX300 mechanical issues
My 99 has a slight misfire for a few days and I know the one 02 sector was bad, but I was driving my daughter to school and it started bucking like crazy and I tried to milk it home and white smoke poured out of the engine and it shut down. Come to find out from the mechanic, the one ignition coil melted. He replaced it, the battery which was fried, and a few blown fuses. It still had a misfire so when he put it on the computer, it was saying other coils were bad and kept giving different codes. He’s now changing all coils and all 02 sensors, and a good tune up. He said if this don’t fix it, it has to be the computer. Is it normal for the coils to go bad all at once? It has 147,000 miles on it.
Another thing, the tranny won’t shift until your going a few minutes. I was told that’s normal for them but I can’t imagine that being normal. I’m tempted to sell it, I just can’t keep putting money into this car. I could get an 08 RX350 for a good deal, but that has higher miles then my 99. I just don’t know what to do. Any suggestions? How long can these RX’s go mileage wise before big problems? And I’m concerned with the tranny, someone said they have a lot of issues.
This is my first Lexus, so I’m clueless.

Ignition coils going out around 140k is not abnormal.
You should have gotten misfire code.
Keep in mind you have a 19 yr old vehicle.
