door light/dome light
Hi,
I have MY99 RX300. When I open the passenger side door, it doesn't seem to trigger the dome light to come on. The small light located at the bottom of the door panel does not come on either. Are they connected ?....maybe the bulb on the door side burned out ?? When I open the other doors, I can see the dome light coming on.
Any help would be very much appreciated !

last,
The door switch (activated when the door is opened), may be a problem. This would be the first thing to look at. The switch connects to an electronic control unit (ECU) that sends signals to both lights (door and dome). The ECU could be a problem too, but less likely. If you can check the switch, test it, etc. that may be a first step. There is no individual fuse for the problem you describe.

Thanks for the prompt reply !!
Just talked to the mechanic at the dealer.......it appears that I have to replace the entire door lock assembly. The switch is bulit in as a part of the door lock assembly. The cost of part is 285.6 + tax....ouch !
Is there any DIY site that you may be aware of to pull the door panel off ? Thanks.

Dome Light
I had a similar problem on my old Ford ranger. The dome light would not go out. Untill you wnrt down the road a mile or so. I pulled the fuse. And took it too the shop. They wanted 250.00 to replace both door switches. I told them I would live with no light. A few weeks later I saw on the web to just WD-40 the switches. I sprayed the heck out them. Worked great till the day i traded it in. Not sure how my RX300 works. But you might try it. Only a dollar.
