Oil change

Anyone do an oil change on the car? I have free oil changes at the dealership but I heard they do it at 10,000 miles and I like to do mine when it hits around 3000. Can I use 5w30 or what do you guys recommend and how many quarts does it take? I'm also in Houston, TX.

I haven't changed mine yet, but the sticker under the hood calls for 0W-20 oil. It will be early 2016 before I hit 10,000 miles.

a 350 engine takes about 6.7qt if i recall

well couldnt the dealer use that as its first free oil change? I didnt have 10k on mine but I went in at 1 year @ 7300 miles for my 2 years of free oil changes.
