I had a friend whose insurance paid out a solid 15-20% over used market selling price, glad to hear you were covered properly. The F80 is definitely a worthy replacement for the F. Hope you don't get too stuck on bimmerpost to update this thread with further comparison thoughts as you get acclimated to the ///M

I'm glad you got it sorted out. I figured it would be totaled.

I'm surprised to hear you went with a bimmer. So long as you are happy...

Good luck. Take care.

Don't recall who, perhaps Statefarm? It was an AP2 S2k some time around 2008. I don't think he owned the car for too long and actually got paid out for more than he purchased, though it's been a while.

Congrats on the new ride. The torque is intoxicating. It's especially impressive at highway speeds where you just mash the throttle and the car just GOES!!! No downshift necessary. 1st gear is basically useless, tho.

Can't blame you on the choice...was one of the original choices that I contemplated before buying my RC F. Have friends that have Dinan Stage 1 M3s as daily drivers and love them.

Enjoy the new ride!

State Farm, however, had totaled my car on the 17th and never told me or the shop who continued to work on my car. State Farm said the engine was pushed into the firewall and the car did not need to be rebuilt due to safety concerns even if damages were below the threshold. I am grateful and State Farm put a surprising high value on my car even though it had well over 30k miles.

New car saga . . .

I said I would never do a BMW again, but never say never. I got a Competition Package M3 thinking it will be a great daily driver.

I can use the 4 doors and extra room although my heart still wants my RC F or another 911 as my daily driver.

I miss the RC F and I loved the Orange color, the way it drove, looked and felt. The M3 is crazy, frantic and powerful even without getting high into the rev range, but it just does not have the 911/RCF sports car type seating position and feel that I love so much.

We'll see how I feel about the M3 after spending a day with it as we got home pretty late last night with it, but right now I would take the RC F back especially considering the extra $$$s I dropped to get this.
Hi Doug, could you PM me and share how much the payout was with statefarm for your RCF. Greatly appreciated

Same for me, I've always wanted an M3. I could never square the combination of initial cost, reliability, and the miles I drive to work. If I lived closer and could fall into a lease I would probably give it a go. Even the lease takeover sites, the price to have one for a little while was higher than the RCF. That said, I really do like the car. I think the comp package wheels are fantastic looking.

That M3 looks nice. I bet it's a lot of fun to drive.

Its an angry little car with no traction when you get on it. Mine is lowered and handles like crazy in the twisties. The back seat is actually very roomy and bigger than our macan S's backseat despite the car feeling and driving like a much smaller car. Below you can compare it somewhat to the size of a 911.

ssmoked. I don't recall now what the payout was, but it was surprising good back then. Book value may have also dropped since then.

Approximately $55,910, but that also included sales tax they paid to me.
