Longo Lexus told me they have a contract with PPG and they cannot use other paint manufacturers, but for my car since they were having so much trouble matching using PPG, they ended up going with Glasurit paint. So if you have a Molten Pearl RC/F, ask to use Glasurit instead of PPG if wherever you are taking your car to uses PPG.

They are going to start on the respray tomorrow, and hopefully, I should I have the car back in the next week or so, tops.
Awesome! Glad to hear the situation is finally working out for you

I'm definitely didn't take it to the dealer, though I'm glad the Molten Pearl color match finally worked out. I'm taking my USB RCF to Collision Consultant's body shop in WLA.

My son got in an minor accident in his 2016 FRS and they did a great job!

Here's what it looks like now. Hopefully it will be good for the SoCal cruise this weekend?!

Surely it's not that hard?

I jest, I jest....I think we sometimes forget the pain that Lexus goes through to make our cars, so much so that they themselves don't want to go through that process again!

Ouch. Hopefully yours turns out well 1st time around, unlike Longo and their USB and Infrared RCFs which took multiple tries to get it on point.

My USB 6 week old NX F Sport needed a new front bumper. Took it to a 'Lexus preferred' panel specialist with great reviews.
Came back with a purple blue bumper. Told me that the painted plastic bumper never matches a painted metal surface. Contacted insurer accessor and had it back in the shop for a week of resprays until colour eventually matched.
Looking for a RCF now. USB is the best colour. Red close second.
Only getting black in future, however, as just can't put up with the major hassle with even minor scrapes.

They are incorrect, I have a USB and I smashed my bumper @ 400 miles and split it and the bottom part was hanging off, when I went to pick it up I forgot what side it was on because they did such a good job. The nicks you see on the bottom is my xpel wrap damage from the car wash

Not sure why people cant find a shop that does good work, here is where I took mine http://magnumcollision.com/

Sorry to see this Scott..!!

I have to agree with the comment regarding the Factory paint not matching well on the RC's.

I've personally looked a several recently and immediately noticed a problem.

There was ONE with white sideskirts that was about 2-3 shades off from the factory

The Blue, Red & Orange are even worse to match.

All good man. At least they finally got it down! I'm so happy for that.

Damn, thats a shame. Can't be driving around such a nice car with mismatched paint on aero pieces. But for the people with the blue, red and orange, I know Longo Lexus has it down, so if you guys are in the area, I would recommend going to them. Whoever the owners are for the red and blue RC's along with myself have already been their test dummies for those color formulations. It should be no problem for those colors to be matched by Longo.

Dude! I just saw akiho's USB RCF and the rear bumper is naturally a different shade with the other panels. Then, gipsonke's newly repaired bumper has the same shade but needs polishing. Maybe Molten pearl is the same concept...?

Edit: NVM, your left rear side panel is just way off on the first post...

There can be a slight variance with bumpers, and it does have something to do with the material its being laid on, on darker colors it is harder to notice but on Silver and lighter color cars there is a shade variance from the factory. A lot of times when the bumper is repainted a good shop will actually match it closer than what it was from the factory.

My silver RCF suffers from it, it's not a big variance but there is a variance none the less. It is particularly noticeable on pearl whites.

If you look at the left quarter picture you can see the variant from the quarter panel to the rear bumper.

That's exactly the same problem I found on the side skirts...

Plastics vs Metal.

Fooiok it, just do like me and never wash it except when you take it in for the services. You'll never notice a thang.

On a serious note, I backed into my RS of all things in a very tight garage. The RS buffed out, but the RCF will need paint eventually as it is pretty noticeable on the rear quarter panel bumper cover. Car is leased and I will probably wait until I turn it in to get my friend to spray it. He does super high end exotic cars and he took one look at that paint and said PIA . . .
