Cabin Air Filter

Cabin Air Filter
I thought I'd pass along along a tip regarding the 10,000 mile maintenance requirements. While I was reviewing the work ticket for my 10,000 mi oil change I noticed the dealership hadn't changed the cabin air filter. I brought it to the attention of the service writer and he said the CAF is not required until 20,000 miles. I told him I thought it was 10,000 mi but he said that wasn't correct. I checked the manual when I got back in the vehicle and sure enough it says 10,000 miles.
I came back into the dealership and showed the service writer who then took the manual to his boss. He told me the RC is the only vehicle in the current lineup that has the CAF changed at 10,000.
They were very cordial about the whole thing and promptly replaced the filter. Just a reminder to check the manual to verify all requirements are performed.

I probably wouldn't trust that dealer for services anymore...all Lexus require CAF change every 10K miles. If they can't even read what's printed and perform what is listed, then who knows what else they do wrong.

If this cabin air filter is like my others, you can buy one fairly inexpensively and change it yourself, once your car gets beyond the free service dates. I think they go in easily right behind the glove compartment. (We have no new name for that yet? Who puts gloves in there?)
