I've been putting my tablet over the screen for a while now. I just put a small black piece of Velcro so it doesn't tip forward when I accelerate. I use the torque app with a bunch of gauges so it looks cool and I can monitor my engine, etc.

Used my iPad Air in the same method via velcro and clear case on the old sc430.
That is a very cool idea. How is the tablet powered in your setup? Battery only?
Thanks! Right, battery only. It's a modified version of the Android OS, so all non-essential background apps have been disabled/removed. That, plus since it's only on while driving, I get nearly 10 days between charges. Then it's easy removal, 30 minutes in the charger and I'm good to go for another 10 days.
I showed the set up to my reps at Lexus, and they were amazed at the simplicity in execution, yet flexibility to integrate into the existing communication system.
