H-Pipe Question for 3IS Exhaust
Members,
I'm considering removing my resonators and replacing them with an X-pipe and straight pipes back to the mufflers. However, I saw this picture from ultran00b and I'm wondering if that section between the resonators and the convertors is some sort of H-pipe. Thanks for the help.

equalize pressure from both sides. it acts as a pseudo H-pipe in a sense that the two chambers are never forced to mix together like an X-pipe. Its also very thin, so I would consider it a bottleneck and would replace with a traditional X-pipe.

Thanks for the insight Loe. I'll get that X-pipe and post some pictures later. I'm planning on getting the magnaflow X-pipe crossover but I'm still researching if I should get get the 2.25 inch or the 2.5 inch.

Go on ebay and bid, I got mine for $515 shipped, fitment and quality is wonderful, and the Invidia is approx. 28lbs lighter than the OEM midpipe. An exhaust shop will do an X-pipe/resonator delete for $200-$300, but at least with the Invidia you'll delete the secondary cats (which are approx. 500-600 cell units).
I have it, the exhaust note sounds a little louder inside, no drone, but outside sounds very nice and noticable, especially in the higher RPM ranges, like a factory "sport" exhaust option (though sounds different than the actual F-sport exhaust in that it's higher in pitch) Best of all, the car no longer feels bottlenecked in the higher rev ranges, more responsive, and more eager to rev, and more low/mid-range power.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...on-my-3is.html for a sample clip of a midpipe on stock axle back. Its on a 2nd gen but sounds similar on a 3rd gen.
also, cold starts gives off a nice bassy bark without being obnoxious.

Thanks for all the insight guys. I went with the invidia mid pipe. I purchased on black Friday and I installed it myself. I had to have a muffler shop loosen the o2 sensor for me but everything else went well. It sounds very mean. Now I just need to find the Infiniti douche in my neighborhood and blow his doors clean off.
