Default 98 GS300 Cooling Headaches

Over the passed few months, I've been doing a lot of maintenance on the motor. Since I've had the car, I've done two coolant flushes. The hoses are new and the thermostat is new because when I had bought the car, the previous owner had taken it out. The coolant is fresh Toyota red.

My issues lately have been that after a long trip, I come up to a stop light and the temperature slowly begins to climb. The fans turn on, the upper and lower hoses do not swell up, and the isn't a drop of coolant in sight. I can lower the engine temp when it begins to rise by blasting the heater. The temp also goes down when I am in motion.

Any suggestions?

I found the issue. It had half a gallon of coolant missing. I had found it really odd that the mechanics who had flushed the system, had only given me back half a gallon of coolant.

On to the next order of business, wheel bearing replacement.
