Default Need to possibly replace transmission - questions

So I'm not sure exactly what happened but turned my car on today and it wouldn't shift past 3 and vsc turned off. I'm thinking the transmission has gone bad and I'm out of warranty. It had been shifting really hard for a while now. I have a 2007 is350.

I'm thinking I might have to replace the transmission which will undoubtedly suck but I was thinking that if I'm going to be spending so much money anyway is there any possible way to convert this to a manual transmission... I saw pages of it online with people asking about it but not sure if it's been done or if it's even possible. I really don't like the transmission that's in the car. Even if it working fine it's so laggy in the shifts and not that smooth at all.. The only problem I have with the car

if i were you i would just search around for another auto 6spd for your is350. the shifts really arent that bad unless you want the car to shift like an f1 car. manual trans really isnt the answer for the "laggy shift" thing because unless you are beating on the car, you wont be able to shift as fast as an auto. the human factor alone would slow the car down

as long as this motor/trans been around im sure it cant be too too expensive nowadays. good luck man

I have my tranny from my is350. 6hrs from MD and can sell super cheap! Just saying
I'd agree in that troubleshooting/diagnostic/repair isn't worth it..easier to replace and be finished.

Or as you said; this is a good opportunity to trial a manual swap

^If you end up replacing the entire trans, Mike will be your best bet right there!

Are you not getting any CELs right now? Before doing anything else, try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes to fully reset all of the vehicle's systems.
