Default Non VVT-I Worth Losing Luxuries?

If i were to swap a non vvti 2jzgte into my 98 GS300 instead of the recommened VVTI is it worth losing all the luxuries to have a wider variety of aftermarket parts?

I would recommend to keep with a VVT-i gte. There's not a whole lot more that will work on a non-vvti than on a vvti other than camshafts/cam gears. Everything else will bolt up or install without issue, and the vvti version is an easy near bolt in swap on a 98. Why go through the trouble of losing your entire cluster and climate control comforts for a motor that will make about the same hp as an easily swapped vvti version?
